TEAM RESULTS 2025

British Riding Clubs Show Jumping Qualifier:
Solihull Riding Club. 19th October 2025

The club was well represented for the show jumping qualifier, held at Solihull Riding Club in October. We had 6 of our members entered across 3 classes which was great to see! The day started early for Katie and Beauty School Drop Out (Frenchie) as they were in the 60cm. Frenchie has had a few blips recently, so the drop in height was needed to regain some confidence! They produced a fab clear in the first and second round and just had an unfortunate pole in the jump off. But overall, this was a great result for them! Next to go was our 70cm team which included Julie and Stonewalls Bessie (Betty), Tracey and Dora and Mike and Lady Caoimhe. Tracey and Dora’s consistency continues and they produced a fab triple clear! Mike and Caoimhe also produced a great triple clear. Julie and Betty jumped a lovely, speedy clear in both the first round and the jump off, but had such an unfortunate pole in the second round. At the end of the competition, the team came 6th out of 11, as the fastest of those on 4 faults. Out of 44 individuals, Tracey came 4th, with Mike just outside of the placings in 9th. Onto the 80cm where we again fielded a team. This consisted of Mike and Caoimhe, Jules and The Renegade (Barney) and Mandy and Apurna’s Buck (Buck). Mike and Caoimhe continued on from their success earlier in the day, jumping a fab double clear, just to have the penultimate fence down in the jump off. Mandy and Buck jumped a lovely clear in the first round and the jump off, but Buck took a little disliking to a corner of the indoor arena and had a couple of stops which meant they also picked up some time faults. Finally, we had Jules and Barney, where Barney had both parts of the double down in the first round, but otherwise jumped a great round in what was very soggy conditions by this point! In the second round, Barney wanted everyone to know that they weren’t quite big enough for him and he tapped four poles, but when he got into the jump off and they were a bit bigger, he flew around and finished clear in this phase! Unfortunately, no placings in this class as they just finished outside the placings in 7th. Next up is the dressage qualifier in November, before we get a break before Christmas!

British Riding Clubs Dressage Qualifier:
Solihull Riding Club. 5th October 2025

Our members were back out for the first of the qualifiers this month and it was great to see that the kinder weather was still with us, although a little windy by the end of the day! Let's hope the dry/sunshine lasts a bit longer! We were fielding one team in the qualifier and each member was riding a different test, one to do an Intro, two to complete a Prelim and one to ride a Novice. This team was made up of Katie and Roisin Dun (Rosie) who were in the Intro section, Jules and The Renegade (Barney) and Julie and Stonewalls Bessie (Betty) who both competed in the Prelims and finally Mike and Lady Caoimhe (Caoimhe) who were in the Novice.  Firstly, it was Katie and Rosie who had a far earlier alarm than the rest of the team, with them going down the centre line at 9.30am, 4hrs before the next of our team! Rosie is in her first year competing and this was the busiest warm up she has had to contend with, but she acted like a pro and stayed nice and calm. This didn't quite carry through to between the white boards where we had some babyish centre line wobbles and a spook at E! But there was some nice parts to her test and she came away with just over 64%. Second up was Mike and Caoimhe in the Novice. Caoimhe warmed up beautifully and this continued through into her test, producing some lovely work. A slight sat nav blip on Mike's part but this was easily recovered and they came away with just under 65%. Smiles all around for this mark at this level! Next were Jules and Julie in their prelims. First in between the boards with Julie and Betty. Unfortunately Julie fancied giving a different test a go to what it should've been, so after a quick look through the correct test and getting it called, she completed her prelim test and gained 57%.  Jules and Barney were then soon after Julie, in a different arena, and was having the test called by Katie. Frustratingly, the wind had become quite swirling by this point so there was a couple of instances where Jules couldn't hear. However, they completed their test, producing some nice work and finishing with over 62%. No placings this time, but it was great to catch up with everyone and have a laugh and natter. That's the main thing anyway!

British Riding Clubs Show Jumping Championships:
Lincoln Showground. 31st August 2025
Individual: 5th

It was two championships in one month for Tracey and Dora, and Julia and Betty!! Tracey has done a fantastic job of writing up their account of the day, so enjoy!! It was with huge relief that we drove into the formidable Lincoln showground on Saturday tea time. We were so lucky to park together right at the edge of the lorry park in a quiet spot, with our own row of portaloos nearby, this being comforting to us both ! We couldn't believe the grass.... lush, green and long , the likes of which Dora and Betty hadn't seen for months ! Dora was head down, munching it, before her feet were even off the ramp. Any hopes of a walk, or lunging, quickly went out the window. Betty, being more obedient, did oblige. After settling them in to their bedrooms, we set off to see the courses. The 1st round looked OK. The 2nd round, however, oh dear !! Even Julie's usual optimism disappeared. Julie, as we know, has balls of steal, but even she looked terrified, her face white in the growing darkness and rain. With the food vans all packed up, we ate what bits we had thought to bring with us, mainly crisps and chocolate. But we sustained ourselves with chat and laughter...and of course a few beers for myself, Julie enjoying a plastic water bottle which was almost full of Jack Daniel's !! Not the best night's sleep. Dora , bless her, had done a massive wee in the lorry on the way over, so my bed was soggy and smelly. Julie slept in her cab, so emerged stiff and crumpled, but still smiling. The sun was shining, the ponies were tacked up and looking beautiful. Julie and I put on our big girl pants and set off to jump our 1st rounds. Betty and Dora both know their job, and rose to the occasion, both jumping lovely clear rounds. What struck me was the happy atmosphere, with people clapping and cheering clear rounds, in fact, all rounds. Everyone enjoying being there and seeming genuinely happy for their fellow competitors. Boosted by now, we headed to ring 1 to jump our 2nd rounds. Dora and I first, Dora striding into the ring with her 'warhorse' head on, flew round clear, with a fast jump off too. I wasn't going to hang around after all the effort of getting there, was I? Julie and 'Betty The Bold' next. With Julie's encouraging commentary, they jumped all those scary fences, which Julie had named the night before, ( like the flowerpot fence, the lego fence, the skip, and the dreaded planks ), they flew round, only tapping a pole which rolled off unknown to Julie. Luckily, the officials didn't notice either at first, so Julie carried on, with Betty relishing the big jump off fences, just having a late pole down. Julie came out beaming with happiness to the cheers of people watching ! We'd all done it! With Dora finishing 5th, and Betty 35th out of 109 competitors ! Then Dora decided she was done with being a good girl! I had been struggling getting to grips with the stable door, so she let herself out !! Her determination to get to that lush, green Lincoln grass becoming too hard to resist ! To the calls of 'loose horse' on the loudspeaker, do you think could I catch her ? Eventually I did, and with both beautiful ponies safely in the lorries, we set off home. Both of us just so incredibly happy, having had an unforgettable weekend, surrounded and supported by kind and friendly people. Our two brave little horses munching their well deserved haynets behind us.

British Riding Clubs Horse Trials Championships:
Swalcliffe. 2nd / 3rd August 2025

Next up for the club was a trip to Swalcliffe for the Horse Trials Championships. This competition would see the team compete over two days. With dressage and show jumping on the Saturday, and cross country on the Sunday. The team of Tracey and Dora, Julie and Stonewalls Bessie (Betty), Kerrie and Minstral XXVI (Mini) and Katie and Beauty School Dropout (Frenchie) all made there way to the venue on Saturday morning, got checked in, picked up their Finalists plaque and started to get themselves ready for dressage.  After everyone had finished their dressage tests, Tracey and Dora were on 36, Julie and Betty on 44, Kerrie and Mini on 32.2 and Katie and Frenchie on 38.7. As this isn't anyone's favourite discipline, everyone was pleased to get through it and were all happy with what was produced.  Next up was show jumping, this course was a full championship track and the course builder had used the undulating ground conditions in a very clever way, so accurate riding was definitely required! Tracey, Julie and Kerrie more than rose to the occasion with them all produced fantastic clear rounds and ending the first day on their dressage scores. Unfortunately, it seems like there is something not quite right with Frenchie as they had another uncharacteristic E to their name, ending their championships early.  Onto day two. The cross country was another testing track which required fitness to tackle the multiple inclines through the course. Tracey, Julie and Kerrie were all ready to go and had Katie and the rest of the support crew to offer help and words of encouragement!! Nerves were high, but didn't stop everyone from putting their best feet/hooves forward as all three pairs produced clear rounds! The hills did prove influential with many getting time faults, including our members, but this doesn't take away from the fantastic job they all did to come away with 3 double clears at a championship event.  With all the scores in, the team finished in a respectable 12th place, only 3 penalties from being in the placings. But what a great weekend we had!!

British Riding Clubs Show Jumping Qualifier:
Solihull. 27th July 2025
Team: 2nd
Individual: 1st, 3rd and qualified for the Championships!

We again sent our trusted team off to Solihull for the show jumping qualifier. This team included Tracey and Dora, Julie and Stonewalls Bessie (Betty), Kerrie and Minstral XXVI (Mini) and Katie and Beauty School Dropout (Frenchie) who were taking part in the 70cm class.  In the first round, both Tracey and Julie produced great clear rounds. Kerrie had a little sat nav malfunction which caused an unfortunate 4 faults, but in Mini's eyes, he was clear too! Unfortunately, Frenchie had decided that she didn't want to play and came away from the first round with an E against her name. However, even with this, the team moved to the next round on a score of 4 so all was still to play for.  After a short break, it was time for the rest of the team to head on in for the second round, which also included the jump off for the latter part of the course. This was a full up track, but that wasn't enough to stop these ladies! All of them went in and meant business, all producing fantastic clears in the 2nd round and the jump off! This kept the team on their total score of 4 and was enough to get a team 2nd place.  To add to the excitement, Tracey was the fastest of the class so came away with 1st individually, and Julie was 3rd. Tracey gained an automatic qualification to the championships, but Julie has also been offered a place so will join Tracey as they head off to Lincoln at the end of August!

British Riding Clubs Horse Trials Qualifier:
Offchurch Bury. 5th July 2025
Team: 2nd and qualified for the Championships!
Individual: 3rd, 4th, 7th

We had one team entered into the 70cm horse trials qualifier, held at Offchurch Bury, on Saturday 5th July. The team was made up by Tracey and Dora, Julie and Stonewalls Bessie (Betty) and Kerrie and Minstral XXVI (Mini). The organisers had done a great job in preparing the ground following the ongoing hot weather we’ve all been experiencing. Everyone put in great performances in all three phases. In the dressage, Tracey and Dora put up a 34, Julie and Betty produced a 38.2 and Kerrie and Mini came away with 33.5. Onto the show jumping, and all three combinations produced a clear inside the time and were moving onto the cross country with just their dressage penalties on the board. Again, all combinations went clear cross country!! Tracey and Dora just picked up 2 speedy time penalties, Julie and Betty were inside the time so finished on their dressage score and Kerrie and Mini added 11.2 penalties to their fab dressage mark. Their fantastic results secured them 2nd place as a team as well as individual results. With Tracey and Dora coming 3rd, Julie and Betty coming 4th and Kerrie and Mini finishing 7th. The most exciting news of all is that the team have been invited to the championships as a wildcard entry!! They will all be heading to Swalcliffe on the 2nd/3rd August!!

British Riding Clubs Dressage Qualifier:
Moreton Morrell. 22nd June 2025

We fielded just the one rider to the dressage qualifier, and this was Katie with her new 4yr old Roisin Dun (Rosie). This became another great first experience for her whilst competing in two Intro tests. Rosie took everything in her stride and did some nice work at times when she wasn't distracted by the horses turned out in the fields! The two tests were both in different arenas, but they managed to get identical marks in both tests! Scoring 63.64% this left them in 7th place in both tests, just 0.5 of a mark out of the placings in both.

British Riding Clubs Two Day Event:
Princethorpe College. 24th/25th May 2025
Team: 1st (70cm)
Individual: 3rd and 5th (70cm)

The club always looks forward to the annual Two Day Event which is hosted by Stoneleigh Riding Club! It's always a great event, full of fun and gives everyone chance to do something a little different. Unfortunately we weren't able to field a full team this year due to other commitments and horse injuries, but we did send Julie and Stonewalls Bessie (Betty) and Tracey and Dora, to take part in the 70cm. Stoneleigh RC were great and made up teams for any individuals that had entered, which meant Julie and Tracey were put with two others. Day one consisted of dressage and show jumping. Tracey and Dora came away from dressage with a 32, and Julie and Betty got 36.8. They were all on their A-Game for the show jumping, producing two clear rounds, leaving them in great positions overnight, both individually and as a team. Moving onto day two. This day consists of road and tracks, followed straight away by a full cross country course. Prior to starting cross country, competitors are held in a 10-minute box, checked over by the vets before getting the ok to continue. Both Tracey and Julie were brilliant in these phases, with Tracey ending the day clear, and finishing on her dressage score. Julie also went clear, just picking up one time fault, so ending the weekend on 37.2. The course proved to ask the right questions but with the fantastic performances of Tracey and Julie they both helped secure the team WIN and they placed 3rd and 5th respectively as an individuals too!

British Riding Clubs Combined Challenge Qualifier: Solihull. 4th May 2025
Team: 4th (70cm)
Individual: 6th (70cm)

The club headed out to another qualifier! This time for the Combined Challenge, held at Solihull Riding Club. This event consists of a round of Show Jumping, and then straight into a short Cross Country round, all in one arena on grass. We fielded a team in the 70cm which included Julie and Stonewalls Bessie (Betty), Tracey and Dora and Kerrie and Minstral XXVI (Mini) and then we also had Mandy and Apurna’s Buck (Buck) in the 90cm as an individual. First in was Julie and Betty who both had a fab round, jumping clear in both phases. Just coming home with 1.2 time faults for being a little speedy cross country! Next in was Tracey and Dora who did an exact copy of Julie’s round also jumping clear and picking up 1.2 speedy time faults! Lastly for the team was Kerrie and Mini, jumping clear in the show jumping but deciding that jumping one of the 90cm fences was more exciting for today which gave them an unfortunate elimination. However, as it was a team event, the elimination just meant a larger penalty so the team still finished on a score and came 4th. Julie and Betty also managed to secure an individual 6th place which was a great result! In the afternoon, Mandy and Buck set off in the 90cm. Buck can find the warm ups a little exciting, but once he was in the arena he knew his job and produced a great clear round in both phases, just getting a few time faults in the cross country where he wanted to take a bit of a steadier stroll through the water! They ended up finishing just outside the top 10.

British Riding Clubs Show Jumping Qualifier: Solihull. 1st March 2025
Team: 6th (70cm)

On Saturday, we had 5 of our members head off to Solihull to take part in the BRC SJ Qualifier. We had a team of 4 entered in the 70cm, consisting of Kerrie and Minstral XXVI (Mini), Julie and Stonewalls Bessie (Betty), Tracey and Dora and Katie and Beauty School Drop Out (Frenchie). We also had Mike and Lady Caoimhe who competed individually in the 80cm and 90cm. It was a lovely sunny day which has been a welcome change from the very damp winter we have had! First up in the 70cm was Kerrie and Mini, they got the team off to a great start with a fab clear round. This luck followed for Julie, Tracey and Katie who also posted clear rounds which finished the team off with a score of 0 for the first round. After a quick course walk, it was time for the second round, which also included the jump off. Unfortunately, when Katie started to warm Frenchie up she was lame so they had to withdraw from the second round, leaving the other three members to take it on. Kerrie again got us started and had such an unfortunate 4 faults at fence three but for their first time competing as a pair at this height, they did an amazing job. Next up was Julie and Betty, it was such a shame to see the first fence fall, but they put this behind them and completed the rest of the course clear. Finally, it was Tracey and Dora, who jumped the first part of the course clear and put the foot down for the jump off. Another unfortunate 4 faults were to be had, with fence 8 coming down but they finished the round with a nice speedy time! Overall, this put the team in 6th place out of 10 teams. Moving on to Mike and Caoimhe who started with the 80cm. Starting off in the outdoor arena, they got themselves off to a cracking start by coming away with a great clear round. Another course walk for the second round and jump off, and it wasn’t long before Mike was warming up again and ready to go into the indoor arena. A great first phase saw him go clear as he started the jump off. However, another 4 faults were to be had for the club with an unfortunate pole in the jump off. After a break between classes, it was time for Mike and Caoimhe to come back out for the 90cm. Starting outside, they jumped the first round to come away with 4 faults. After this round, Mike felt that Caoimhe was feeling a little tired, so decided to call it a day and withdraw her from the second round.

British Riding Clubs Show Jumping - Points: Moreton Morrell. 26th January 2025
Team: 2nd (70cm)
Individual: 4th (70cm)

Welcome back and welcome to our first competition write up of 2025! Our first event of the year was the Points show jumping competition, and we had 6 of our members competing. This year, British Riding Clubs have introduced a 60cm class in some events, so with this, we had people competing in the 60cm, 70cm, 80cm and 90cm classes, which is fantastic to see for our little club! First up was Sara and Threeshires Eclipse (Emma) who competed in the 60cm. Emma is 26yrs old and it was great to see her pop around and have lots of fun! They had a couple of stops, but as they both usually stick to 50cm rounds now, this was a great result for them both! Next up was our 70cm clan. We had a team of 3 which consisted of Kerrie and Minstral XXVI (Mini), Julie and Stonewalls Bessie (Betty) and Tracey and Dora. Kerrie was first in, literally (!), and got the team off to a fantastic clear. This is still a relatively new pairing, but they are on cracking form and it’s great to have them on the teams for this year. Second in was Julie and Betty, with Betty very happy to be out and was a keen bean, pinging around happily. Unfortunately, they just picked up 8 faults when having the final 2 fences down. Last in was Tracey and Dora and they continued to show their consistent ways, posting another fast clear round for us. When the results came out, it was lovely to see that the team came 2nd, Tracey was 4th individually and Kerrie just missed out an individual placing, coming 7th. Now to the 80cm class and we had Jules and The Renegade (Barney) as our entry for this class. It’s great to have this pair back with us and we’re looking forward to them doing more throughout the season. They both did amazingly and just tapped a few poles to come away with 12 faults. Finally, our 90cm entrant of Mandy and Apurna’s Buck (Buck) finished off the day for us. Buck was a little too excited about everything to pop a warm-up fence prior to going in, so the first fences he saw was when the bell went! But game faces were on, and Buck popped around sweetly to just come away with an unfortunate 4 faults. Overall, a great day for the club and it was a great event to dust off the cobwebs! Next up is the Show Jumping qualifier in Feb!
