ETTINGTON PARK AND KINETON RIDING CLUB
TEAM RESULTS 2026
British Riding Clubs Arena Eventing Championships:
Aston Le Walls. 29th May 2026
Individual: 3rd
The day had finally come! The team who had qualified for the arena eventing championships back in February were heading off to Aston Le Walls! As we had mentioned in our last update, the team needed to have a shuffle due to a couple of horse injuries (wishing Frenchie and Betty a speedy recovery as we are desperate to get them back involved with our club updates soon!). The team we took forward included Kerrie and Minstral (Mini), Tracey and Dora, Mike and Lady Caoimhe and Katie and Roisin Dun (Rosie) and the event actually started on Thursday afternoon for Katie who stood in as our volunteer for the event and helped set up the show jumping. This did give her an early insight into the course, but also meant there was a night of worry and panic of what Rosie might think to it all! The course/venue was definitely championship level, with the course going across two arenas, including going through the water twice. So, it was really going to ask some questions of everyone. Onto Friday, and Katie was first to go with a very early time so a 3am alarm was needed! They arrived in good time and managed to have another walk of the course which did calm down the nerves ever so slightly! Rosie has only done one previous 70cm show jumping round before and that was in preparation for this, so it was safe to say there was very little expectation, and the aim was to just see how we got on! It was safe to say that Rosie thoroughly enjoyed the occasion, and she came out very keen. They had a great show jumping round, just having a pole down before moving straight onto the cross country part. The first two fences were in with the show jumps, before leaving the arena and going through the water for the first time. All ok so far! Rosie just wanted to have a gentle stroll through the water given the heat! They carried on around all the way to fence 8 where they picked up an elimination for 3 refusals, but Katie was thrilled to have got around as far as they did and we’re sure it gave them so much confidence for the future! Next to go was Kerrie and Mini who also had a very early start! They got themselves in the zone and were soon ready to go in and give it their all! They both did a fantastic job around the show jumping, producing a really smart clear round, getting them out into the cross country. Mini was popping around sweetly, just needing a little look at fence 5 before he was sure it was safe to continue! Unfortunately, Mini took a little dislike to the corner at fence 7, popping in another stop and causing Kerrie to have a closer look at the surface (naughty Mini!). They both came away fit and healthy, if not a little confused at what happened! Third in for the team was Mike and Caoimhe. They again had a great pop around the show jumping, just picking up an unfortunate four faults for a pole. Onto the cross country for them both and Caoimhe loved it! Jumping everything sweetly and staying nice and forward. The final fence on the course was a joker. This was a show jump which was 10cm higher than the rest and requires some careful riding after the horses have opened up around the course. Well, this was no problem for Caoimhe, she jumped this clear! They came away with 6 time faults, but that doesn’t matter, it was great to get one of the team home. Finally, it was Tracey and Dora’s turn. Dora thought she’d keep us all on her toes as she had a couple of rubs on some of the show jumps, but they all stayed up and she produced a clear round (she was obviously just conserving some energy for the cross country!). They moved onto cross country at a good pace, navigating everything in their path brilliantly. They were approaching the joker having gone clear to that point, and they went on to jump the joker clear as well! Fantastic result and they were met with cheers all around! Excitingly, the commentator announced that they were inside the time and had gone into the lead! There was still about 70 competitors to go at this point, so it was a long wait to see where they would end up. They managed to hang on to a top 3 place and got the all-important sash and goodies! Well done Tracey and Dora!! p.s. sorry about the lack of pics for this one, we were too busy socialising!

British Riding Clubs Combined Challenge Qualifier:
Solihull. 16th May 2026
Individual: 2nd (Qualified for Championships)
There were four combinations representing the club for the Combined Challenge qualifier at Solihull. They were Katie and Frenchie, Tracey and Dora, Mike and Caoimhe and Jules and Barney. First to go in the 70cm was Katie and Frenchie, after a lengthy delay and a course that was causing its fair share of problems, they eventually set off on what was a very long show jumping round! Unfortunately, Frenchie just wasn’t enjoying herself and they came away with an E. Next in was Tracey and Dora who yet again proved just how brilliant they are and produced a fantastic clear round and in the time. They were sitting provisionally 1st for such a long time, only to be knocked to 2nd at the end of the class, but this is still enough to secure them a qualification for the championships! Next up was the 80cm with Jules and Barney heading in first. They both pinged around with smiles on their faces, just having 3 poles down show jumping, but going clear around the cross country, and adding no time! Mike and Caoimhe then followed but unfortunately the ground was a little to firm for Caoimhe so after the show jumping, Mike decided to retire and save her for another day. The club have a team heading to the Arena Eventing Championships next and we have sadly had to have a couple of swaps due to horse injuries. Julie and Betty were the first to have to step away and Mike and Caoimhe have been brought in. And then after Frenchie’s unusual E at the Combined Challenge, a vet visit showed she also needed a little time off so is also not going to be able to attend. Wishing Betty and Frenchie speedy recoveries, and a good luck to the team for the Championships!

British Riding Clubs Combined Training Qualifier:
Solihull. 11th April 2026
Individual: 6th
There was just the one club member out for the Combined Training qualifier and that was Katie and Roisin Dun (Rosie). They were entered into Prelim 1 / 60cm class. It was an early start, with them going down the centre line at 9:37 but it did mean they were finished nice and early too! With Rosie still a baby, just having turned 5, Katie was hoping she was in the arena furthest away from the hedges (basically to avoid the pigeons lurking behind them!) but it wasn’t to be! They performed a really smart test for where she is in her education, just having a couple more costly mistakes, to come away with a 35. Initially this was a little disappointing, but having seen they were 4th after everyone had been, Katie was happy with this! Now onto the show jumping! Rosie still finds jumping indoors a little spooky when she needs to jump along the wall edges, but she went really well, jumping her first clear round at this height! Unfortunately, though, they were hit with 4 time faults which was such a shame, but the balancing on the corners was the cause, which can’t be helped at the moment! So, after all of that, they ended up in 6th place, coming away with Rosie’s first BRC placing!!

British Riding Clubs Arena Eventing Qualifier:
Dallas Burston Polo Club. 21st February 2026
Team: 1st (Qualified for Championships)
Individual: 4th
After what has been the wettest February going, the rain decided to give it a miss as the club ventured off to Dallas Burston for the Arena Eventing qualifier. We had two teams entered, one in the 70cm and one in the 80cm. With Katie and Beauty School Drop Out (Frenchie), Kerrie and Minstral XXVI (Mini), Julie and Stonewalls Bessie (Betty) and Tracey and Dora in the 70cm, and Julie and Betty, Mike and Lady Caoimhe and Jules and The Renegade in the 80cm. Katie and Frenchie were first of the team to go in the 70cm, they popped around the SJ a little ring rusty and had a very unfortunate tap of a pole going into the double. As they went into the XC, they found their rhythm, going clear and cleared the Joker fence too, just picking up 2.4 time faults. Next up was Kerrie and Mini. They absolutely smashed it, going clear in both the SJ and XC, including the Joker. Kerrie was shocked to hear they got 3.2 time faults for being too speedy!!! Tracey and Dora were then off, and Dora was back to her old whizzy self, coming home clear across the board, and also being within the optimum time, finishing on zero. Lastly, Julie and Betty were up, again they both stormed around the course, taking lots of wide lines to try and be as close to the time as possible. Another one to finish clear but just getting an unfortunate 1.2 time faults, again for being speedy! Once all the horses were put away we looked at the scores to see that the team had taken the WIN and have qualified for the championships which are at the end of May! Also, Tracey finished 4th individually! We then moved onto the 80cm. Julie and Betty were on at the start of the class and were going really well, having gone clear SJ and just having an unfortunate run out in the XC before getting to the penultimate XC fence and Betty decided she’d done enough and Julie ended up seeing how soft the ground was! But everyone was ok which is the main thing. Mike and Caoimhe then went in, producing a fantastic round, going clear all the way until the Joker came down, leaving them with 6 faults. And they were a small fraction over the optimum time, so came away with 0.4 time faults. Lastly, Jules had rotten luck as her transport decided to misbehave when she was en route so unfortunately wasn’t able to make it.

British Riding Clubs Area 5 Points Show Jumping:
Moreton Morrell. 10th January 2026
Individual: 1st, 6th
Welcome to a new year of team news! And from one club event with horrible conditions, to another! The new year bought with it a lot of snow and ice and although the snow has gone, the icy weather remained. We only had Katie and Roisin Dun (Rosie) and Julie and Stonewalls Bessie (Betty) entered for this and they did both manage to make it in safely, although many others on the day couldn’t. Katie and Rosie were in the 60cm, and although this is the arena they went in for dressage back in November, when you add a load of fences into it, it feels and looks very different! The one bit of sunlight and the gallery of people did take Rosie’s attention, which resulted in two stops at fence one where they just couldn’t get themselves going. But by the third attempt they were off and looked to be gaining confidence. That was until the double at fence seven which was right by the gate. She popped in but couldn’t get out so that resulted in an elimination, but a lot of experience gained. Onto Julie and Betty who had entered both the 70cm and 80cm. They stormed round the 70cm clear and with the fastest time of the class (by nearly 5 seconds!) to take the WIN! They then went into the 80cm with the same can do attitude to have the unluckiest 4 faults, but still in a very speedy time (again, the quickest of the class) to come away with a 6th place! So well worth the trip out!
